What This Song Means to Me
What This Song Means to Me
It’s a true story about my 1967 Mustang Coupe—inline 6, Florida bones. I fixed it up and drove it as is—why? Because it was "mine, all mine, my junkyard Mustang ride."

I started by writing out all the good, bad, and ugly things about the car, then turned them into lyrics. Some of my favorites are:

Ripped-up seats and a hole in the floor,
Passenger got splashed if it rained some more. True, I was bad—I drove over puddles just to get my younger sister. LOL, let the bitchen begin… CHRIS!
[Verse 1]
Seventeen and a field of dreams,
Christmas morning, or so it seems.
A baby blue beauty, rusted with scars,
No gas pedal, no wipers, no stars.
Ripped-up seats and a hole in the floor,
Passenger splashed if it rained some more.
Signals dead, but a quirky light,
Pump the brakes, make it flash at night.

[Chorus]
But it was mine, all mine,
That junkyard Mustang ride.
Through Illinois snow,
And fields so wide.
Burned oil and dreams,
Primer and pride,
Yeah, it was mine, all mine,
My junkyard Mustang ride.

[Verse 2]
No horn to blow, no AC to breathe,
Manual life, every turn a heave.
Florida rust, but the bones held true,
Covered in snow, still my heart it knew.
With a Chilton guide, I found my way,
Fixed what I could, drove every day.
From the tires I turned to the engine’s hum,
That inline six, where my knowledge begun.

[Chorus]
But it was mine, all mine,
That junkyard Mustang ride.
Through Illinois snow,
And fields so wide.
Burned oil and dreams,
Primer and pride,
Yeah, it was mine, all mine,
My junkyard Mustang ride.

[Bridge]
From the field it roared, a beast reborn,
Every bolt I turned, every gasket worn.
I learned to live with a little less,
But every drive was happiness.

[Chorus]
Cause it was mine, all mine,
That junkyard Mustang ride.
Through Illinois snow,
And fields so wide.
Burned oil and dreams,
Primer and pride,
Yeah, it was mine, all mine,
My junkyard Mustang ride.

[Outro]
Yeah, it was mine, all mine,
My junkyard Mustang ride.
